Questions about Dutch theory exam practice

Cannot find your question? Send us a message.

Can I practise for free?
Yes. You can take the free trial exam as often as you like, with no account. The theory lessons are free too.
Which languages can I practise in?
Dutch, English and Arabic. Each package shows which languages it includes.
How many questions are in a practice exam?
A practice exam has 50 questions. You have 45 minutes and need 44 correct answers to pass.
Do I get an explanation for each answer?
Yes, after the exam. We do not show explanations while you are taking it, so it works like an exam. Afterwards, you can review every answer and read why it is right or wrong.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. The site is built for phones and works on a tablet and a computer as well.
Do I need a subscription?
No. You pay once for a package that lasts a set number of days. Nothing is charged after that.
How do I pay?
You pay through Mollie. Your access is ready as soon as your payment arrives.
Can I get a refund?
Before you start your first paid exam, you can cancel within 14 days without giving a reason. After you start, contact Joulyan and explain what happened. Joulyan decides each refund request.
Is this the official CBR exam?
No. We are a practice site. You book and take the official exam with the CBR.
Can I take the real CBR car theory exam in English, or with an Arabic interpreter?
Yes. At the CBR you can take the car theory exam in Dutch or in English. In any other language, such as Arabic, you need an official interpreter. You book the interpreter yourself through an agency the CBR approves, at least 14 days before your exam. You also pay the interpreter yourself. According to the CBR, the exam costs €50.50 in Dutch, €57.00 in English and €118.50 with an interpreter. Check the CBR website for today's prices.

What changes on 1 October 2026 for driver-assistance systems (ADAS)?
Driver-assistance systems (ADAS, in Dutch: rijhulpsystemen) are systems in modern cars that help you while you drive. Examples are adaptive cruise control (ACC), automatic emergency braking (AEB), intelligent speed assistance (ISA), lane keeping assist, blind spot warning and parking sensors. From 1 October 2026, the CBR exam questions about these systems focus more on good driving behaviour and on staying in control of them. The number of exam questions does not change. Our exams include questions about driver-assistance systems too. They are Joulyan's own practice questions, not CBR questions. The free theory lessons have a full lesson on these systems.
